I used your 60" Cherry Heritage Vanity for my master bathroom that I was remodeling. I had never used (RTA) Ready-To-Assemble cabinets before, but the process was quick and painless. I really like the fact that the back had openings for the drain and other pieces, so didn't even have to cut for the pipes. I really like the details on the cabinet and the rich cherry color.

I just thought I would share some pictures of the Chestnut Glazed Maple Cabinets that I bought and installed in my kitchen. As you can see by the pictures, everything came out great. They were super easy to assemble and install. Thanks for your help with selecting the correct size cabinets to fit the space. I will definitely recommend your website to my friends.

Coat Rack and Storage

A coat rack out of RTA cabinets? Yes, it's true. This design image sparked a lot of ideas for us because it shows the flexibility of stock RTA cabinets, and how they can really be used in any room. This coat rack is a great combination of style, function, and extra storage.

Coffee Bar with Mullion Doors

If you are a coffee aficionado, then a coffee bar like this might be something to work into your design. With all mullion doors, and a shelf to keep the coffee mugs and other coffee accessories, this would look great in any kitchen. The staggered look on the wall cabinets gives it a custom look that isn’t hard to create. For an added custom look, attach decorative end panels to the sides.

Staggered Height Bathroom Vanity with Extra Storage

This is probably our most popular design from all of the TV shows that we have worked on. We get emails every week asking how to make this. This design lends itself to the Cherryville line, because the bathroom vanities are only 30” high rather than our standard of 32.5”, but you can still accomplish the same look in any of our lines that feature both a vanity line and kitchen line. This design provides his and her sinks, and a lot of storage with the vertical tower.

End Bookshelf for Wall Cabinets

This simple design allows for extra storage space at the end of a cabinet run, and easy access to spices, cook books, or anything else that you might need in the kitchen. There are a couple of ways that you can create this look, and it will really depend on how deep you are making the cabinet.

Island with End Book Case

One of the challenges in the kitchen is to find a place to keep everything you need and use on a regular basis. Every good cook will keep some cook books around for reference, and what better way to store them than to add a book case in the kitchen. I found this picture of a kitchen and really liked the way they laid out their island. With the sink in the island, and plenty of countertop space to work on, having all of your cookbooks within easy reach is a natural fit. This is really easy to accomplish using our RTA cabinets (easier than you would think). How big or small you want the island and how you will configure the layout, will depend on the size of your kitchen, but the overall design will remain the same. Here are some simple instructions on how to get the same look for your kitchen using our RTA cabinets.

Kitchen Island With Double Ovens

One of the hottest trends in kitchen design is shifting the oven units down to the floor. Traditionally, you would have seen either a free standing range or the oven units stacked in a wall unit. With the trend heading towards design and trying to hide the appliances, installing them in the island is a great way to achieve this. Most people wouldn’t think you could still achieve this look with RTA cabinets, because we don’t have a cabinet specifically for undermount oven units, but you actually can. While this layout shows two ovens, you could easily modify this for a single oven or for wider base cabinets, but the design will remain the same. Here are some quick instructions for re-creating this look in your kitchen.

Kitchen Island with Wine Cooler

In this design, they decided to accentuate the island and make it a focal point of the kitchen by using a different color cabinet. They also came up with a creative way to incorporate a wine cooler into the design, without taking up valuable space along the wall where the appliances would traditionally go. A very simple design that allows flexibility in terms of what you put in the island and how big you want to make it.

Kitchen Hutch with Microwave

It has become common place in kitchens today to put the microwave above the stove in a microwave/range hood combo. What we liked about this design, is that it is simple, and yet creates a customized space for coffee, entertaining, or whatever purpose you can find. The great thing about this design is that it could be used in the kitchen, in an entertainment room, or even as a wet bar. There is a lot of flexibility in how to lay this one out, but we will explain how to build it based on the pictures.

Kitchen Island with Curved Top

We really like this island design for a large kitchen (at almost 4 feet wide and over 8 ft long, it will require a lot of space). This design offers storage on all four sides, while providing a large amount of work surface AND seating; making the island multi-functional. In the picture they feature a built-in farmer’s sink, but for the instructions we are just going to show a regular under-mount sink. The advantage to building a big island like this one, is that it creates a great gathering space and allows the chef to interact with guests.

Pass Through Kitchen Island

While this isn’t a very elaborate design, it is a great way to create a multi-functional space that can help define two different rooms and/or create uniformity between two different living spaces. With this design, you can use one side for extra seating, you could put a dividing knee wall to define the other space, or you can do back to back cabinets to really maximize the storage space. Whichever way you decide to go, this multi-functional design would work great in kitchen or living room. For the instructions below, we assumed you would be putting back to back cabinets to maximize the storage space.

Stacked Wall Cabinets

This design incorporates several different storage options, and also shows another way of handling the layout of wall cabinets. They use a combination of smaller wall cabinets for the top, to create the look of custom cabinets. For the bottom, while it is hard to see in the design picture, they actually took off the doors of the base cabinet and added pull out shelves to break up the look of having a wall of all base cabinets. One additional features that we didn’t add to our design are the cup holders below the plate rack. This is something that can easily be added if you want to complete the look from the picture.

Download Kitchen Design Instructions

Staggered Height Kitchen Island

This island design is great for a narrow kitchen that needs additional storage space. While it doesn’t allow for extra seating, the wall cabinets on the back of the island give plenty of extra storage. In this design, they utilize the island for a cook top, but you could easily substitute a sink or just take advantage of the extra counter space. It does limit the work space, but frees up room along the wall (especially in a small kitchen), and may help with the coveted “work triangle” which is essential for every kitchen. They also did a nice job in dressing up the bottom of the cabinets with the furniture feet that were added at the corners. For the design below, we didn’t put the feet all the way around, but left them on the front and back.

Built-In Wet Bar

For anyone that loves to do a lot of entertaining, a wet bar is the perfect addition to any home. W really liked this wet bar design because they took a very simple design and make it look like custom furniture. By pulling out the center base cabinet and end wall cabinets it creates the illusion of being a custom hutch. The addition of some extra toe kick to the bottom, gives this wet bar even more character.

Download Kitchen Design Instructions

Pantry Wall

This design is great for a smaller kitchen and tight spaces, where storage is needed, but standard base cabinets are too deep. At first glance this would look like ordinary base cabinets, but they are actually wall cabinets used to create the pantry and the base cabinets. By using wall cabinets, it frees up 12” of clearance for walking. By adding some decorative accents, it also gives the illusion that this could even be a piece of furniture.

Large Island- Open Concept Living Room

This design is great for creating the open concept kitchen/living room in a house, and for making the cooking area the center of attention. With this design, it allows for eating on one side (with the raised breakfast bar), and plenty or work room for the cook on both sides of the stove. This design is easy to create and is another great idea for an open kitchen feel. For this design, we did not explain how to create the breakfast bar or wall around the cabinets (since this will vary in height and design).

Basement Snack Bar

This is a simple design that would work in a basement entertainment area, workshop, kid’s room, or as a kitchenette for a small apartment. Easy to create, and just as flexible for how many different configurations you could make. Think about adding a door mounted trash can to the base cabinets, or extra store for glasses with a wall insert. We really liked the use of down lighting and the tile backsplash to add some focus to this corner of the room.

Wine Bar With Stem Glass Holder and Wine Rack

For the family that likes to entertain and enjoys wine, this wine bar incorporates everything you will need. While the design shows a small sink, you could also put a wine cooler in the bottom to help keep your white wines chilled. This design also shows a creative way to make additional space above the sink by utilizing multiple small cabinets. You can use your imagination as to how you want to create this, but here is a simple way to create it using our cabinets.

Kitchen Island With Built-In Table

While this is a fairly simple design, it shows another way to create seating at your kitchen island. In this design, they have eliminated the need for a kitchen table by building it into the island. This not only saves on space, but also allows the chef of the house to interact with dinner guests or kids. The staggered height allows for normal height chairs instead of bar stools. Also note the unique hood range that they used in this design! Very easy to make out of our cabinets.

Ornate Cooking Area and Range Hood

This is one of my favorite designs because it really shows how creative you can be. A kitchen like this could cost upwards of $50-60,000 in a kitchen design store or even the big box places. With some simple planning, you can get a similar style to this for less that 10% of what you would pay for custom cabinets. This design lends itself more towards cabinet lines that are painted, but we will give you a basic design that can be used in any cabinet line. Depending on what type of ventilation system you use, you may have to make some modifications to this design.

Download Kitchen Design Instructions

Kitchen Island with Raised Breakfast Bar

Similar to another design that we showed you, this kitchen island has plenty of room for storage with cabinets on both ends that can be used as bookshelves by removing the doors, or regular storage. The big difference with this design is the additional height of the breakfast bar. By using 42” high wall cabinets, you create an elevated eating area, and add some depth/dimension to the design. The island can be as wide as you want it to be, but we designed it for seven feet. While they don’t show the other side in the picture, we are leaving the backsplash up to your imagination (we only factored in an island panel to cover it). We also including optional decorative end panels for the back of the island, which you don’t need for the design but add some detailing.

Download Kitchen Design Instructions

Kitchen Island/Seating Area

With room for a couple of stools this design incorporates both a seating and cooking area with extra storage. Just another example of how creative you can get with your kitchen island. In the picture they show a decorative toe kick, which can be made, but we made it a regular toe kick to make it easy.

Download Kitchen Design Instructions

Kitchen Island with End Wine Rack

While this is a fairly simple design, it helps to make the most out of the kitchen island without wasting space. In the drawing we incorporated two wine racks, but you could include a plate rack, shelving, or even leave one side open like they did in the picture. The sketch doesn’t show it, but we backed up wall cabinets to the base cabinets on the other side, so you will actually need a filler in between the wine racks if you are doing two of them together.

Staggered Depth Wall Cabinets

This design could be used for any combination, but the reason we liked this look is because most people don’t realize how simply modifying the depth of the wall cabinets can create a completely different look. By staggering the depth of the cabinets, it adds shadow lines and makes it look like a custom build project.

Built in Desk Between Walls

This is a really simple design, but most people don’t consider using kitchen cabinets for something like this. This is perfect for a little nook in a bedroom, or a multi-purpose room where you don’t want to have a desk sticking out. A few simple cabinets and you are ready to start paying bills, doing homework, or working on the computer.

Washer/Dryer and Sink Combo

Whether you have a small condo where space is a precious resource, or you have a large home with a separate space for a laundry room, not many people consider how to incorporate them all using kitchen cabinets. This is a simple design that can easily be scaled into a full laundry room, or laid out to incorporate a tiny studio apartment kitchen. With the popularity of stackable washer/dryer combos on the rise, this is an easy way to incorporate them into any room.

Washer/Dryer and Wet Bar Combo

This washer/dryer combo design is for the multi-functional room or small apartment. This design incorporates a wet bar, stack washer/dryer, mini refrigerator or wine cooler, and plenty of storage for all of your party or laundry supplies.

Kitchen Desk Attachment

With the kitchen being the hub of the home, and more and more technology being integrated into the kitchen, it only make sense that you are going to need a place for your computer. This easy to make desk arrangement, allows for easy access to your computer, a small desk area, and more counter top space.

Wine Rack with Storage Tower

This is a good combination of open shelving, storage space, and display area. Perfect for a wet bar area, entertainment room, or wine bar. We used a combination of cabinets to recreate the look, with the only real carpentry coming from the cubby holes.

Download Kitchen Design Instructions

Display Hutch with Plate Rack

This design is great for homeowners that want to showcase their fine china or dishware. The combination of mullion doors, with the plate rack, and extra storage about makes a great focal point for a room (especially if you have tall ceilings). We made some modifications to make it work with our cabinet sizes, but you will still get the same dramatic effect. Add the LED lighting that we offer from www.ledundercounterlight.com and it would light up the whole room!

Spice Rack Island

The kitchen island doesn’t just have to be for extra seating or more work space, and this design proves it. By adding some creative spice rack storage, you can have easy access to all your spices, cooking supplies, or even canned goods. The design in the picture has a sink in the island, but you could always put in a cook top as well. This island only has cabinets on one side, but you can always put base cabinets back to back or put wall cabinets on the other side

Pantry and Mini Refrigerator Combo

This design uses some creative detailing to give the kitchen a custom look. While it looks high end, this design can be made out of any of our stock cabinet lines. The high end look comes from decorative filler strips and a unique way to install the crown molding which I would mention in the design below. Using accent under cabinet lighting really helps to accentuate the look. The height of the wall cabinets and the pantry can be adjusted, but for this example we used 30” high wall cabinets.

Download Kitchen Design Instructions

Refrigerator and Desk Combo

With today’s busy lifestyle, incorporating technology and functionality into the kitchen is a must. While this isn’t a complicated design, it makes good use of the space and adds a desk area to the kitchen that can also be used for food prep or as a work area. This can be accomplished using any of our cabinet styles. For the instructions, we just focused on the refrigerator and desk area.

Double Vanity and Linen Cabinet Combo

While this is a fairly simple design in terms of construction, it is another great way to lay out your bathroom and create a double vanity master bathroom suite. With flanking linen cabinets, two sinks and drawers in the middle, it creates ample storage and countertop space. With this design you have a lot of flexibility with the design, but may be limited on some of the styles that you can use. For the cabinet lines that don’t have linen cabinets, you will have to use pantries (for our design we used pantries). While the image shows a white cabinet line, we used the autumn shaker to configure ours. (Note: Only a few of our bathroom lines have the three drawer cabinet for the middle.)

Download Kitchen Design Instructions

Washer/Dryer Combo with TV

While simple in design, we really liked this idea because it gives you a way to add some functionality and entertainment to your laundry room. With ample work space, and storage space, this design lets you catch your favorite shows while washing and folding laundry. With the optional storage shelf above, you can add some design elements to the room with some nice baskets, or just add another cabinet for closed storage space. The size of the cabinets will really depend upon the amount of space you have so you can easily substitute any of the sizes in our cabinet lines

Download Kitchen Design Instructions

Large Kitchen Island with Seating

If you are going for the grand kitchen, this is the island for you! As we designed it below, this island is 72” by 54”, so you will need a lot of space but it features storage for everything you will need in the kitchen. With storage on all sides, seating in the back, and the option for a sink in the middle, this will give you space or work, storage, and seating. The sizes can be adjusted to fit your kitchen, but we tried to replicate the picture as much as possible.

The Cherryville Bathroom Vanity is the epitome of elegance in bathroom design. With its rich, warm Cherry finish and its multi-dimensional raised panel doors, the details and distinction offered in the Cherryville Collection is unrivaled.

The Cherryville Vanity Series is perfect for traditional, transitional and formal bathroom styles. RTA Cabinets works on many home décor television shows, and the Cherryville Bathroom Vanity is our most often used design. Because the vanity collection is 30 inches in height (rather than our standard 32-1/2 inches), and there is a matching kitchen cabinet Cherryville Series, you can stagger heights and cabinetry for a professionally designed look for your DIY bathroom renovation, construction or update.

The Cherryville Vanity Collection is right at home in any design that needs an elegant, rich cabinet. It is particularly handsome in traditional bathroom designs with modern touches. Because of the distinctive, warm finish, usually only found in hand carved Cherry wood in antique furniture, we love the more neutral palettes that let the cabinetry take front and center stage. The sleek gray that has become the ‘go-to’ neutral provides a handsome contrast, as well as colors of earth and nature.

Granite and marble countertops are a natural for the Cherryville Vanity Series. Cultured marble in a creamy white seamless style lets the details and finish of the cabinetry really shine. A granite countertop, particularly our River White Granite with its maroon, gray and earthy veining, is a handsome look as well. The Cherryville Series can handle any number of fixture finishes for faucets, whether it is bright or aged brass for antique elegance, polished or satin nickel for a more modern twist, or rubbed or aged bronze to add depth.

When it comes to flooring, larger floor tiles in porcelain, granite or marble offer a great look that doesn’t compete with the details of the Cherryville Vanities. Smaller wall tiles, particularly staggered subway tiles are a hit pick, and for more modern appeal, consider glass tiles for a sleek foil against the rich, warmth of the Cherry finish.

Some of our favorite design tips to use with the Cherryville Vanity Collection include:

• Use round, frameless mirrors above the vanity to let the cabinetry offer a contrast to the round shape rather than competing for attention;
• Proper lighting in the bathroom gives the room a professionally designed feel, make sure to layer lighting with ambient (allover) lighting, decorative lighting, task lighting and accent lighting.
• Go easy on the accessories in an elegant bathroom design, less can be more, and choose quality rather than quantity.

The Cherryville Vanity Collection offers elegance and distinction, and its quality construction backs up its handsome good looks. The face frames, doors and drawer fronts are all solid wood, and there is no particle board used anywhere in their construction. Both the drawer glides and hinges are concealed. The Cherryville Bathroom Vanity Collection is 30 inches in height and 21 inches in depth.

RTA Cabinets also makes a Cherryville Kitchen Cabinet Collection that can combine with the bathroom vanity to offer a variety of custom designed options. This allows the average homeowner to provide a professional look for a DIY project, and we’re happy to help!

Our Cherryville Collection offers a distinctive elegance for your bathroom design, whether it is for a master bath retreat, guest bath or half bath. The timeless design of the cabinetry will allow it to grace your home for many years to come.
